Care for your Cuticles

Get Rid of Those Dry Cuticles!

Cuticle Care

What you need to take care of those dry cuticles:
You will need:
  • Cuticle Oil or a Cuticle Remover
  • Some Cotton Pads
  • A Cuticle Pusher and Trimmer

Sanitize the Tools with Hand Sanitize
Dry Cuticles Treatment
Step 1:
Apply the cuticle oil or remover as directed on the packaging. Using these makes your cuticles soft and easier to cut, they will make removing them painless. If you don’t have any of these products, try soaking your fingers in a bowl of warm water till they become soft and then use a body butter or cold cream to keep them soft through the process.
Step 2:
Push your cuticles back with the cuticle pusher, at this time you can also remove dirt in your nails. Be careful, go from one side of the nail to the other and don’t be forceful, you may cut yourself and cause infection.
Step 3:
Any cuticles that come up and look loose and dry, snip them with a cuticle cutter. Try to get just the loose ones; don’t dig till the skin to get them all, this can cause you much pain and damage on the nail that can only be grown out.
Step 4:
Use the cotton pads to clean off the oil and debris. And you’re done! Remove all oil from the nails if you wish to paint them.
Remember:

If you don’t have loose cuticles, don’t cut them. It will save you trouble and your nails will look beautiful even if the cuticles are pushed back! Use a cuticle cream regularly to keep your dry cuticles nice and soft.
Doing this will help your nails look beautiful!!! Dry cuticles will turn to smooth and soft cuticles.

Vitamin E Oil

Pure vitamin E oil is extremely versatile. Vitamin E oil promotes healing and is an active ingredient in many products available for skin and nails. Vitamin E is a strong antioxidant that prevents premature aging. It should be incorporated into a daily diet. Vitamin E oil can be purchased at any drug or grocery store in either liquid or capsule form. Capsules can be punctured to release the oil for topical application. Strong food sources of vitamin E are vegetable oils, nuts and seeds.

Regular application of vitamin E oil on the skin improves the texture of the skin and helps to get rid of various skin problems.

1. Skin moisturizer and Night Cream:
Vitamin E oil being a great skin moisturizer can be a healthy substitute for lotions that are loaded with ingredients like alcohol and other chemicals. Vitamin E oil not only provides the required moisture to the skin, but the presence of antioxidants in it facilitates the healing process in case of an injury.
Bedtime application of oil is ideal for the healing and preservation of skin. However, application of pure vitamin E oil should be avoided as it is thick and sticky. Olive oil when mixed with equal amounts of vitamin E oil is most suited for application during bedtime.

2. Anti-aging benefits:

Owing to the presence of powerful antioxidants in vitamin E oil, regular application of this oil on the face not only helps in smoothing out the fine lines and wrinkles but it thwarts the chances of their occurrence in the future as well. Thus, it keeps skin tight and firm.

3. Treatment of sunburn:

Vitamin E oil is also effective in soothing minor sunburns. On being applied on the skin, it is readily absorbed by the epidermis and heals the damage caused due to exposure to ultraviolet rays. To experience quick relief, this oil should be applied twice a day on the sun burnt areas.

4. Treatment of brown spots:

Brown spots can be attributed to a variety of factors such as free radical damage, aging, liver problems etc. Vitamin E oil is effective in preventing and repairing free radical damage. Applying this oil on brown spots, lubricates the cell membranes causing cell regeneration which consequently helps to smoothing dry skin and lighten the spots.

5. Cleansing agent:

Vitamin E oil is a ‘universal cleanser’ as it suits all skin types. Dirt, grime, dead cells and debris that get accumulated on the top layer of the face, make it look dull and tired. Applying a few drops of this oil on a cotton ball and wiping the face with it twice a day has a deep cleansing effect on the skin, thereby imparting it a radiant glow.

Almond oil

Almond oil is acquired from dried almonds through a process called cold pressing. Almond oil is acquired from the almond seed, which contains protein, vitamin E and B vitamins, as well as essential minerals, healthy fats and protein. The benefits derived from its vitamins such as E, A and D. It is mostly used as a skin care product but is also used as a medicinal oil for some skin or hair disorders.

1. Moisturizing

Almonds have a way of trapping moisture in the skin keeping it moisturized at all times. Better still, its high lubricating quality makes many users stick to using it as their daily skin care product.

2. Anti-inflammation

This oil has also been proven to have a calming effect on people with skin allergies and inflammation. It has both the ability to soothe as well as treat skin allergies. Minor wounds, chapped skin, and other skin infections can also be treated using almond oil.

3. Emollient Properties

Emollient properties refer to the ability of the almond oil to get absorbed into your skin. It is also used in many spas for its less fragrant and less greasy qualities. It is also useful in massages as it restores the normal PH of the skin and allows the skin to glow thus preserving moisture.

4. Removing Dark Circles

Its lightening ability is another reason that has made this oil popular among many people with dark marks on their skin. All you need to do is mix some almond oil with some honey and apply on the affected area.

5. Reducing Wrinkles

Almond oil contains vitamins that help it delay the appearance of wrinkles. It is best to apply almond at night after taking a shower. You could choose to do this twice a week or alternate days depending on how soon you wish to see the end results.

6. Sun Protection

Harmful ultraviolet rays cause wrinkling, sunburns, aging, and skin cancer. Though sun -blocks and sunscreens are effective. Almond oil can help reverse the damages brought about by sun exposure.

7. As a Makeup Remover

It is used as a makeup remover as it leaves the skin looking healthier and beautiful. Massage it gently to remove eye makeup. It’s effective enough to remove waterproof mascara.

8. For Stretch Marks

This is as a result of its emollient quality that tightens the skin and promotes better blood circulation thus reduces stretch marks.
